Ok let's see - we have an image hosted on a profile that is 1 day old and asks you to visit a website with a strange url with a promise of a financial reward on an another website. How do you even imagine that would work? And now, of course, people start crying that their computers got infected with malware. Which is great - every genius who fell for this obvious phishing scam deserved it. I hope your shitty computer burns and you along with it.

Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

What I personally find the hardest to draw is feet and hands. I found that with a lot of practice and a lot of frustrating mistakes my feet and hands actually look at the very least almost the way i want them to be.
Now my favorite Style of drawing is Anime or sometimes semi-realism, and i find that by doing studies of the more traditional style realism actually helps improve my anime pictures greatly. For instance i would practice drawing my hands and feet in different positions holding different things and from different angles. UPDATE: Art submitted to the WRONG FOLDER will be declined (or expire). If your submissions are not accepted instantly, you submitted to the wrong folder! Please withdraw your artwork and submit again to the correct folder.

Hello!

As you may have noticed, this group has a "Wrong folder" to which you submit per default. (Why is this? Because it would be even harder to sort through if, say, every wrong submission would go to photography per default.) This folder is almost full right now, even though I clear it out from time to time.

Submitting to the wrong folder means more work for the group admins and it makes you look bad, because it looks as if you don't care about your art and the people who will see it, i. e. the members of this group.

I know there are some of you who might not know how to submit to the correct folders, but there's an abundance of tutorials about that on dA, have a look:

Among the submissions to the wrong folder, there are some really great pieces. So please, if you spent many hours making an artwork, take the 3 seconds required to submit it to the correct folder to show that you value your art and respect this group and its rules.

Also, in order to reduce the submissions to the wrong folder, I've restricted the number of artworks you can submit to the wrong folder to 1 per month (for the rest of the gallery, it's still 3 per day).

You can't open a folder for people to put things into when they aren't sure, then tell them they look 'bad' for using it. It's not that people 'don't care', it's that they lack the information they need (for whatever reason) to use the right folder.

Personally I've never had an issue finding the folder I need in your group. But if lots of people are, then perhaps there are some issues the admin could address to make it clearer and easier for your members?

Hi there,

I don't think that's the case -- we do have an "Everything else" folder, and submitting to that one is fine.

On the other hand, the wrong folder is the default folder -- if you don't choose a folder while submitting, your submission will go to the wrong folder.

Some people who submit to the wrong folder and have their art declined get mad at us ("I thought this was all-is-acceptable..."), so I take it they didn't even see what folder they submitted to.

Our category system is rather simple and similar to dA's, I don't see how we could make it even easier (unless we just stop caring altogether). Do you have a suggestion?

Well, you learn something new every day. I had no idea you could submit without choosing a folder.

Getting the point/message across is the toughest battle. Constant reminders in journals like this one, a highlighted guide on the front page, and perhaps a standard welcome message explaining what's expected, could help. You could also have a standard message when you decline stuff so people know that all-is-acceptable does not mean the galleries are a free for all!

Personally I'd get rid of the 'wrong folder' and only approve of stuff going into the right category.

As for categories, maybe make some clearer? I know what you mean by 'Photos' and 'Photos of some kind of art', but it's arguably ambivalent and could lead to confusion, which means there is more chance of someone choosing the 'wrong folder' in the hope of having it moved into the correct one.

You system may be simple, but this doesn't automatically mean it is clear. For some artists there will always be a certain amount of guesswork involved unless you explain the folders where their art may fall under more than one category.

The "wrong folder" is the default folder, the first on the list. So if you just don't do anything, you'll submit there.

As for sending out messages, this hard because of the scale that this has: We have about 3200 submissions per week, so we cannot vote on all of them. Sometimes people submitting to the wrong folder get a message, but those are 100-200 submissions per week as well, and for technical reasons, until recently I was the only one who could vote on them (and comment).

I agree with you about the names, I'll fix them. There's also a folder called "Everything else", so even confused people have a folder to submit to

Yeah it's a huge amount to handle. Lot's more admin who can keep an eye on the galleries would help keep on top of things.

Instead of having an 'everything else' folder, why not open more catergories? Maybe being more specific for what each folder is for might help cut down on stuff getting into the wrong one. And a bit more clarity will mean a lot less confused people.
